If you want to feel like you're in India, come here. It was madness upon entering with people piled up and spilling out the door. After hunting down the man with the list to check in for our booking (tip: be very aggressive), we were seated fairly quickly.
Served papadom and chutney when seated, we placed our order. As it is BYOB all you need to find is a bottle opener and glasses. Food service was reasonable quick in no particular order.
We tried a bit of everything and loved it all. Lamb chops, chicken tikka, curry okra, curry chicken, pilaf rice, pakora and garlic naan. Naturally on the spicy side, you need to ask for a mild dish if you can't take the heat. Top it off with a mango lassi and the night is complete.
Total price per person was £18. Amazing deal for a killer meal. Enjoy the bustling atmosphere and prepare for a tasty time! -

It seems the world loves this place. Fair enough.
Here was my experience. I do eat Indian/Pakistani food often.
We ordered the 'famed' lamb chops, some chicken, some vegetable, some bread, rice.
For the next 48 hours I was incredibly sick. I vomited, had uncontrollable diarrhea (yes, I mean uncontrollable!) and an elevated temperature. This tells me that not only was the food not good, but there is a serious food hygiene issue at this restaurant.
Please avoid the temptation to join the herd, and do visit one of London's quality Indian restaurants. -

Warning. If there are clothes you love, do not wear them here. It'll end up smelling like the spices there for a couple days, if not a week. And just for the record, the food smells delicious. It's just a weird chemistry when it's soaked through your clothes, it ends up smelling like BO.
Tourists often tell me to go to Dishoom. A popular westernized Indian restaurant with multiple locations and slightly higher price. Locals however, would tell you to go to Tayyabs.
The food isn't expensive and it's incredibly delicious but don't buy into the hype. It's nothing that much better than what you can find in NYC. You just need to look in the right places. Like Masalawala or Adda.
Lambchops were what made our clothes smell but they are very good.
Garlic naan is huge.
I can't pronounce all the other stuff but believe me, they are good. A bit oily but whatever. It's authentic. -

We ate three Indian/Pakistan meals on this trip and this one was best. I usually would tell people to give Lahore Kebab House a try but Tayyabs is now my favorite. It's quite popular and if you haven't booked a table you may find yourself waiting or strolling over to Brick Lane.
We had a large enough group that we ordered a big variety of dishes. Everything was good. Peshawar Naan is worth a try.
Buy beer or wine from the shop next door. -

This place has very very delicious food, but the service is not that great. Seemed as though the waiters were trying to avoid us anytime we tired to call them over. The meal itself however was excellent and outweighs the service issue. Casual dining, and not too expensive.
